Meets on 1st Tuesday monthly in members’ homes at 10:00, with the venue usually arranged at the previous meeting.

The activities are primarily research and collating of information on Fetcham past from a wide variety of sources reflecting members particular interests.

Projects to date:
The building of composite records for the inhabitants of Fetcham showing as much of their life history as we can. The existing database has Fetcham Census records for 1841, 1851, 1861, 1871, 1881, 1891 and 1901 which we have input. The original Fetcham Parish Records post 1813 showing baptisms, banns, marriages and burials were returned to St. Mary’s Church from the Surrey History Centre and they are currently being entered onto the system and will then be linked to the census data for individuals.

Tithe Maps 1791—these have been photographed and we are hoping to be able to join the maps together and then overlay with current highways. We also have area maps from 1867 onwards and hope to establish land use patterns etc.

Recently visited a Surrey History Centre for a “Behind the Scenes” tour.

Forthcoming meetings: Continuing our walks following the Enumerators routes around Fetcham and research visits to Surrey History Centre.
