Interest Groups - Parchment Craft

The art of Parchment Craft was reintroduced into this country about 15 years ago by a Columbian lady living in Holland. With the help of a Dutch lady and an English lady very much into paper based crafts, the craft word spread and soon it was more noticed particularly in UK and Australia.

Starting with Parchment Paper (a very heavy weight tracing paper), a design is traced onto the parchment (great for people who are not good at original drawing). With the help of coloured inks and acrylic paints, the design can be decorated and using other tools an embossed finish can be made. Lacy effects can be added using needle tools.

Since this group started, members have produced cards for many special occasions, pictures with snowdrops, fuchsias or pansies in 3D, small lamp shades and decorative boxes.
