We meet on the second and fourth Mondays of the month at 2.30 in members’ houses in turn. This began as a Bookham group but
is now run as a joint activity.
We have finished our course book Sueños 2 and are now finding our abilities stretched to their limits as we take it in
turns to introduce a topic and find suitable material. The intention is to prepare for the following meeting. Recent
topics have been the Spanish lottery, Placido Domingo, bull fighting, and wine production. We read the famous extract
about Don Quijote fighting windmills, first in English, then in Spanish, following it on a recording. As light relief
we have watched the occasional video, have twice been to a Spanish restaurant and in my absence I gather there was a
riotous session on the tango!
There is much reference to dictionaries, mutual challenging on grammar and pronunciation, and frequent laughs at our
attempts and mistakes.
There are currently a few vacancies and assistance from a really fluent speaker would be an enormous asset in helping to run the group.
