Fetcham U3A was founded in 2002 and our constitution was adopted in November 2002. In February 2003 we received our Certificate of Membership of the Third Age Trust and we became a Registered Charity, Number 1097356, in May 2003. We have a full programme of meetings and social events and our Interest Groups cover a wide range of learning activities with their own itineraries.

By encouraging and enabling older people in the Fetcham area no longer in full-time paid employment to help each other to learn throughout life by providing facilities for leisure time and recreational activities we provide a valuable social dimension which comes from the friendly atmosphere of interest and Interest Groups. Taking part in these activities is known to contribute to the health and wellbeing of older people, particularly those living alone.

Members are usually from 50 years of age upwards. A monthly social meeting, with a speaker, is arranged on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 2.30 pm in St Mary’s Church Hall, 10A The Ridgeway, Fetcham, Surrey. Interest Groups, meeting regularly in each other’s homes and with their own itineraries, cover a wide range of learning activities by sharing their knowledge and experiences and developing their own capabilities by learning from each other. Members regard themselves as both learners and teachers and arrange and support their own programmes as appropriate to their chosen learning activities.

Our neighbouring U3As are Ashtead, Bookham, Dorking, Elmbridge, Epsom & Ewell, Guildford, Horsley, Kingston and Leatherhead. A comprehensive list of U3As is available at the Harrow website.
