Fetcham during 1st War World - your help required.
Fetcham U3A was founded in September 2002 and our constitution was adopted in November 2002. In February 2003 we received our Certificate of Membership of the Third Age Trust and we became a Registered Charity, Number 1097536, in May 2003. We have a full programme of open meetings and social events for all members and our numerous Interest Groups cover a wide range of learning activities, each with their own itineraries. We encourage the formation of new groups whenever enough members are interested.
We encourage and enable older people in the Fetcham area no longer in full-time paid employment to help each other to learn throughout life; to further their knowledge in areas of current interest and to develop new interests. By providing facilities for leisure time and recreational activities we provide a valuable social dimension which comes from the friendly atmosphere of the Monthly Meetings and Interest Groups and our programme of outings, activities and holidays. Taking part in these activities is known to contribute to the health and wellbeing of older people, particularly those living alone.
Members are retired or semi-retired and there are no defined age criteria. A monthly social meeting, with a speaker, is arranged on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 2.30 pm in St Maryís Church Hall, 10A The Ridgeway, Fetcham, Surrey, KT22 9AZ. Interest Groups, meeting regularly in each otherís homes or local halls; they cover a wide range of learning activities and by sharing their knowledge and experiences members develop their own capabilities and learn from each other. Members regard themselves as both learners and teachers and arrange and support their own programmes as appropriate to their chosen activities.
