By encouraging and enabling older people in the Fetcham area no longer in full-time paid employment to help each other to learn throughout life by providing facilities for leisure time and recreational activities we provide a valuable social dimension which comes from the friendly atmosphere of interest and Interest Groups. Taking part in these activities is known to contribute to the health and wellbeing of older people, particularly those living alone.

Members are usually from 50 years of age upwards. A monthly social meeting, with a speaker, is arranged on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 2.30 pm in St Mary’s Church Hall, off The Ridgeway, Fetcham, Surrey. Interest Groups, meeting regularly in each other’s homes and with their own itineraries, cover a wide range of learning activities by sharing their knowledge and experiences and developing their own capabilities by learning from each other. Members regard themselves as both learners and teachers and arrange and support their own programmes as appropriate to their chosen learning activities.
